Abstract

            The Research Program on Ethnicity and Overseas Chinese Economies (RPEOCE) was established in August 1998 through a generous donation from the Tsung Tsin Association, the largest hakka clan association in Hong Kong, for the purpose of supporting research in ethnicity and overseas Chinese economies.

            The Programme's major mission is to put forward, from multi-disciplinary perspectives, the understanding, analysis and education about overseas Chinese and ethnic studies. To facilitate the accomplishment of this mission, RPEOCE will endeavor to:

1. Explore original research topics on Chinese ethnic studies and identify interesting and important subject areas in Chinese economies;
2. Serve as centre of co-ordination for the South-East Asian overseas Chinese communities and business organizations;
3. Publish quality working papers and scholarly articles on ethnic group studies and overseas Chinese business studies;
4. Link up with overseas and local academic participants with regular seminars, academic conference and visiting;
5. Serve as resource centre of the Chinese business studies in Hong Kong, Chinese mainland and overseas.
